Autumn Vasquez
Graduate Student Assistant
Autumn Vasquez is an award-winning multimedia journalist and master’s candidate at New York University, where she studies in the Reporting the Nation & New York in Multimedia program. A two-time graduate of The University of Toledo, she earned an Associate of Arts in general studies and a bachelor’s degree in media communication, with a double major in creative writing and minors in Spanish and Latin American & Latinx Studies.
A proud Afro-Latina journalist with Indigenous roots, Vasquez has more than three years of experience reporting on culture, education, housing, racial justice, and politics. She is also the founding president of the University of Toledo’s student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Her work has appeared in Pavement Pieces, UT:10 News, Toledo Free Press, Toledo City Paper, and other local and national publications. When she is not in the newsroom, she can be found reading a book of poetry, sipping an iced latte, or at a rock concert watching her favorite bands perform.
